Jonathan Gordon is the Lead Designer, founder, and owner of Design by the Jonathans, LLC. A native of Stamford, CT, he’s had a life-long interest in, and propensity for, design of all types. He uses his wide range of experiences, his creative vision, and his ability to truly connect with and understand clients to produce stunningly beautiful, effective, and practical designs for any space, combining the best in finishes, furnishings, and technology.

Working with Monica was a great experience. I had been “stuck” with an area in my home. She quickly understood my vision and helped me find the perfect furnishings to bring it to life. She is very knowledgeable and her guidance saved me time and made the process enjoyable. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented interior designer!

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Design by the Jonathans. Jonathan Gordon designed our kitchen, powder room, and our boys’ bathroom. Our home was built in 1913, and after a few questions and a tour of the space, Jonathan quickly understood what we were looking for. He had thoughtful ideas that focused equally on function and style, supporting our modern needs within an old American Four Square home. His designs are BEAUTIFUL without losing focus on functional placement, alleviating bottlenecks, etc. He somehow created MORE space in our kitchen with his strategic thinking. For example, he had the clutch idea of moving the powder room, which had previously been popping out of a corner of the kitchen, to a closet under the stairs. Did we lose our 1st floor closet? Nope - he created a mud hall where the butler’s pantry was located that really works. Jonathan has strong relationships with high quality vendors/suppliers, which we hadn’t anticipated would be that important until we saw how he was able to use those relationships when needed (e.g., to help make sure installations were spot on). He guided us patiently through the design choices, letting us show our personal style and also giving his opinion exactly when we wanted it. He interviewed our contractors with us and guided us through the bidding process, offering important perspectives based on his loads of experience. As the project moved to execution, he followed along. He worked really well with our contractors, and when we reached a few stumbling blocks along the way, that’s when he shined. He collaborated with our contractors to problem solve and didn’t let go until he was comfortable that the issue had been resolved. Reviews aren’t helpful unless they give a little of what could have been better. We don’t have much to offer. Sometimes scheduling could be a tad difficult. For example, we had to wait a few weeks for our initial consult. Our reaction? High quality service providers are busy and worth the wait. We are glad we got in line - Jonathan was worth it!

Monica from Design by the Jonathans was amazing to work with! She helped make my dreams become reality in budget and helped me manage 4+ different types of contractors. I will definitely be working with Monica again in the future!!

I had such an amazing experience working with Monica! She went above and beyond when it came to decorating my home. She listened to my ideas and incorporated my vision in her design plans. Each room was thoughtfully considered creating beautiful and cohesive space that flows effortlessly together.

Monica is highly skilled at this craft. She brought an exceptional level of creativity when it came to designing my rooms. She worked tirelessly trying to find pieces that were perfect for my home.

My family and I are so grateful that we worked with Monica. We highly recommend Monica and the team at Design by the Jonathans to anyone that is looking for interior designers.

I cannot speak highly enough of Monica and the team at Design by the Jonathans for their exceptional work in designing our new construction home over the past 18 months. From the very first meeting, Monica took the time to understand our vision and aesthetic, translating our ideas into a stunning reality.

Every detail, from the carefully chosen light fixtures to the exquisite furniture pieces, showcases her keen eye for design. The team's flexibility and adaptability throughout the process made it a truly enjoyable experience. No matter the challenge, they approached it with creativity and professionalism, ensuring that everything was executed to perfection.

We had a great experience with Monica in the design of our new build home - from paint selections, to lighting and mirrors, to tile and plumbing fixtures. She was helpful in guiding decisions while keeping in mind our personal preferences and style. She was fun and easy to work with. We would recommend Monica to anyone in their design process!
Thank you!

When I set out to find a designer for my new condo I checked the reviews on Google and other sites. I chose Design by the Jonathans because of the glowing reviews and they more than met my expectations. I was lucky enough to work with Monica Velez who was excellent. She was very knowledgeable, creative and patient (when I couldn't make a decision or changed my mind). Most of all, I felt that Monica "got me", meaning she understood my style. I am very pleased with the result.

My wife and I worked with Design by the Jonathans over the span of years. We started our project before the pandemic, then paused, then started again after. We are so happy with the design Jonathan created for our new kitchen addition. We added 200 sq ft with a HUGE island and a second sink. Jonathan helped us shop for lighting and plumbing fixtures and we are obsessed. We were able to meet on zoom some of the forms and see Jonathan make changes to our design in real time through a really awesome program. It was a cool process. Jonathan is knowledgeable and a stickler for details, which is what you need when taking on a huge project. We highly recommend working with Design by the Jonathans.

I have had the pleasure of photographing a number of The Jonathan's projects for the last 4 years, and so you never really know what you'll see entering a home to photograph a space! Somehow I never leave disappointed, as their use of texture, light, color and space always manages to impress me! Their sense and care of detail is astounding as well. Many times i've said, "OK, I could live in this room, please!"
They are a professional and caring team of designers who will be there for you throughout your entire project - highly recommended!

Over the past few months I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of working with Monica Velez as my designer as we renovated our kitchen and basement. Monica is amazing! She was by our side through the whole process. She is friendly and customer focused and quickly discerned our style, while offering excellent advice amassed from her own expertise. She went shopping with us, visited the house to oversee and provide input on details, and was in frequent touch via email with suggestions and moral support! I recommend Monica without reservation and would work with her again in a heartbeat! She is a talented and special person and Design by the Jonathan’s is lucky to have her. The whole experience with this firm and with Monica was A+ from start to finish.

We used Design by The Jonathans to help us turn our guest room into a nursery and update the trim, doors, light fixtures and paint in several additional rooms. Their pricing was reasonable and they offered multiple different pricing options depending on the room and extent of design changes. When it came to the actual design, we had the pleasure of working with Monica who was amazing. We felt that she really understood our style and what we hoped to accomplish with every room. We absolutely loved the nursery renderings she sent us and loved the paint colors, doors, and light fixtures she picked out. She made the whole project as easy and seamless as possible and managed everything from the design, to finding excellent painters/contractors, to scheduling times for them to complete the work. Now that everything is complete, our nursery looks exactly like the renderings she sent us, and we are beyond thrilled with how everything turned out. We definitely plan to use Designs by the Jonathans again for our next project.

One of the Jonathans had consulted a family member on interior design and given great advice, so we hired their team to design two baths and find a contractor for us. It has been a great experience with a stellar outcome and we’d hire them again for any future project.

Lana is AMAZING. Brilliant, kind, GREAT TASTE, and she thinks of so many things we never would have. Her magic made our tiny bathrooms feel twice their size. Our only frustration is not knowing prices when making design decisions, but that’s an industry issue.

The contractors are wonderful too (Hovan Brothers) and it’s helpful that they work well together. Oh and you really do need the digital renderings … take it from someone who wasted a lot of money trying to work with a cheaper designer before hiring Design by The Jonathans.

We had a wonderful experience working with The Jonathans and designer Lana Nguyen on two bathroom remodels. Lana was very responsive, professional, and incredibly helpful with decision-making throughout the process. Her renderings gave us a great sense of what was possible and her eye for materials and finishes resulted in beautiful spaces that bring us joy everyday. She introduced us to fantastic contractors and communicated with them regularly to keep the project on track. This was our first time using a designer and we would hire them again without hesitation!

Working with Design by The Jonathans has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish! Jonathan Gordon made our vision a reality and we couldn’t be happier with our new home addition. A lot of time and patience went into this project and he was always open to revisions. Highly recommended!

After meeting and interviewing several kitchen designers, we decided on Design by the Jonathans. Jonathan was the only one that sat with my husband and I and discussed every aspect of our project. He was thorough, professional and patient. He explained why our budget wouldn't work for what we were looking to accomplish and he was correct. He was involved in every aspect from the design, to the contractor selection process, cabinet layout, paint colors and finishes. Throughout the whole process, he was accessible and available to address our concerns and questions. It was a very positive experience and my husband and I love our new kitchen. We highly recommend them and are planning to engage them to assist with our Powder Room and Primary Bedroom.

We had the best experience working with Design by The Jonathans, specifically Lana! She created our dream kitchen for us, and quickly picked up on our style and vibe that we were after. She was incredibly professional and patient and responsive. I would highly recommend this design company, and we'll definitely be using them again!

I started tom work with Jonathans in the summer of 2021 for the renovation of of my 3 bathrooms and 2 powder rooms. Lana Nguyen was the designer & did a super job, and was a delightful to work with. She has a wonderful eye for design details, listened to our needs, and everything came out as designed & lovely. To keep the project on schedule and moving forward, required all the materials to be available on time and David Rubin was most helpful and responsive in coordinating with our contractor and vendors to solve all issues and made sure every outcome was a success- we could not have done this without him. I and my family are happy with the outcome and love the bathrooms and get many compliments from our extended family and friends.

Thank you David, Lana and The Jonathans !!

We had such a great experience with Jonathan. He was able to show us 3D images of how our kitchen will look after the remodel took place. I know sometimes it's hard to envision what a space will look like, he takes the guess work out! Jonathan worked well with our contractor and We never had to "hunt him down" to make sure things were taken care of. He was fun to work with and made things super easy! I would ABSOLUTELY recommend The Jonathans to anyone and everyone! I am super happy we had the privilege of working with Jonathan!!

We highly recommend Jonathan Gordon and his team at Design by the Jonathans. From the initial consultation through to the completion of the project, Jonathan was incredibly thorough and detail oriented. He did an outstanding job of explaining the entire process from planning the layout of the kitchen, to choosing a contracting company, to picking details and finishes. He took our vision of a dream kitchen and turned it into a reality! We are THRIILLED with the result! Thank you, Jonathan!
